Set in a secluded chasm along the Beltline's Eastside Trail, Promontory XV is a public art performance by Hormuz Minina that examines the complex relationship between nature and urban growth. The event echoes Minina's striking 2010 performance at the same site, where he spent the night painted gold and nestled among an oak tree's roots, embodying ritual, resilience, and a commitment to creative humanism. The surviving oak tree, a living witness to these explorations, now inspires the next chapter of Minina's artistic conversation. ABOUT THE ARTIST Hormuz Minina, a Mumbai-born multimedia performance artist and co-founder of the Imagination Society in Atlanta, is known for his durational, site-specific works that blend improvisation with physical and mental endurance. With a background in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and experience in Atlanta's experimental art scene, Minina has served as Board Chair of Eyedrum and has been a champion of innovative art. His practice draws deeply from his immigrant experience and Zoroastrian spirituality, exploring themes of alienation, resilience, and environmental loss. |
